InuYasha Final Chapter Episode 1

Mon Oct 5, 2009, 12:09 PM
And so we begin the long awaited conclusion of a beloved anime: "InuYasha: The Final Chapter"...or for all the purists: "InuYasha: Kanketsu."

The first episode may be watched with all its subtitled glory here:

First, of all, I want to give the caveat emptor: Sunrise is cramming the last twenty-some-odd volumes into 26 episodes. There IS material cut. There are scenes changed. Watch at your discretion.

Now then, I'll say this, it's not as bad as some poster are complaining (see freelance-manga.com). I mean, give Sunrise credit, they're finishing off an anime for the fans (and some money, but mostly the fans). The animation is up to par, the original seiyuu are back (Ken Narita, how I've missed thee), and Kohaku actually sounds like a young boy (not sure where he got the power to leap mountains like Inuyasha, but that's beside the point). If they were to drag out the episodes as intended the show would lose its audience (including new viewers) faster than all the fangirls could scream, "LORD FLUFFYKINS!"

This is a series I wait with baited breath to see released with every successive weekend.

My only reservation is that they had better NOT SCRIMP ON ONE OF THE MOST HEARTBREAKING SCENES IN THE MANGA!!! (Kagura fans you know what I mean.) But, hey, it's great to see a certain fluff-toting, sword-swingin' demon back on the scene. ;)

Finally, special thanks to Moo-moo of Doom here on :devart: for tipping me off about InuYasha: The Final Chapter.

Heheheh, "Happy Monday" -- made my day brighter. :D

I ran into Animaker's art beforehand and it encouraged me to read the story. I'm so glad she paired up with a terrific writer. :)

I just saw episode 2 and I think my head is still spinning. Did Sunrise just take the first ten volumes and throw them in a crack-filled blender?

On the bright side, the DID show Kohaku's character development and DID get in Kagura's death.

I just can't believe they're going so friggin' fast and out of order! It's killing all the pain-staking MONTHS of RT's storytelling! I mean, couldn't we have drawn out the whole "Tokijin gets broken in Kagura's name" scene just a little more? After all, it was Sesshomaru who SLEW Goryomaru. *slaps hand to forehead*

And is it just me or does the animation make Sessh look a little...scrawnier?

Anyway, we still got to hear some of the most immortal lines in the series, so I won't say it was a total trainwreck.

Sesshomaru= definatly scrawny.

Kagura's death= acceptable. Sesshy looked sad

Tokijin Broken= Ouch, couldn't even tell the reason he recklessly broke tokijin, where was the 'getting angry for Kagura?' And he used the attack from Movie 3. Kind of defeats the purpose of the meidou which comes up next episode.

Chapters= Definatly scrambled.

Did you see Koga's hand after his claw thing dissapeared? It was freakishly small... Quality wasn't that good.

I don't mind Sesshomaru using the Dragon Strike, it's just a manifestation of his power in the physical world (not the same as the Meido). I think they got the point across for his anger, but it would've been better if it were drawn out.

Liked the sword/petal symbolism.

Yeah, Koga's hand was very small. :laughing: Quality was something to be desired.

Let's see what the next ones will yield. **crosses fingers** Still say it's better than nothing.
